Something Simmering
There's something simmering in the world today. After searching far and wide for something that makes me marinade I have finally found it.
Legal Drinking Age 18?!
The National Youth Rights Association is pushing for a legal drinking age of 18 years of age. The petitions have been launched in several states including Florida, Wisconsin and Missouri. Their argument? Teenagers who are old enough to vote and fight for their country should be allowed to enjoy a drink or two. Yeah, it makes a little sense but really...do we really want to make it easier for children under 18 to obtain fire water? Especially since the reports point to teenagers turning more and more to hard liquor? As it makes a little bit of sense to allow teens to drink at 18, these people usually tend to have numerous friends below that age. Not to mention a lot of 18 year olds are still in school. This would bring more booze into our schools and, I'll say it once more, into the hands of children 17,16 and the chain continues on down. Perhaps this wouldn't be so bad if there was a requirement such as you must be in the military to be able to drink at this young age. This would allow more restraint to be in place with the strict military life and guidelines. It wouldn't stop children from obtaining the substance as plenty of them are fully capable of getting it now, but it would definitely make a little more sense than just lowering the age to 18. Think of it as a privilege of responsibility.

Is This Really Necessary?
200 more state troopers will be placed on the roads for a "Take back the highways" initiative. My question is, why are you focusing on the roads when obviously we need to be more concerned about the death toll due to the high rise of crime? Sure there are plenty of people violating the traffic laws but this seems to be one of those copy-cat moves of Virginia's similar campaign. It makes next to no sense with the huge increase in crime to worry about these petty misdemeanors. Perhaps I'm the only one that feels this way, or perhaps only the people that tend to live in less-than-neighborly neighborhoods are only concerned with these sort of things.

I think what they need to start a campaign on is "Taking back the youth". Our country needs to realize what their children are getting into and how they are getting into it. We are losing more and more of the youth today from alcohol, drug, and influence from gangs. Yes granted there is a number of people who are not abiding by the traffic laws, but I guarantee you majority that are speeding or not stopping completely at stop signs have better chances living than the kids that are going out into all hours of the night to "hang" and most likely be disrespecting young woman and getting them pregnant while causing beef with others and getting themselves killed. It's good they are trying to protect the highways because unfortunately it is a leading factor in todays death rate but lets be real...We take a risk when we get in that car just as we take one walking out that door in the morning, we can't control every situation that happens on the highway even if we are driving the way we should, but we can control the situations out there with our youth and their actions! They need to begin taking back the streets that taxpayers work so hard to keep safe. In my opinion our police force can easily disrupt activities that are being held in parking lots(especially church parking lots) and other places that don't have some form of "Supervision" and get them off the streets...Ya..."Take back the Streets" is what they need to do. I may be wrong in thinking that we can afford 3-6 Squad cars to go from each reported neighborhood with the highest crime rate and patrol for if not but a few hours each night and eventually they will have to keep it in their houses or get caught and be sent to jail. Well it's something that I think is worth to marinade on, keep it up bud.

marinade this! Legal drinking age 18, u gotta be kidding me. In other countries it is legal, but I cant see any good coming out of it here in the states. I really dont know if you should be able to die in war at the age of 18. In my opinion, we are not adults by this age. I quickly found this out when I went to college and lived on my own. I don't think that this will get passed, but if it does look for more fatalities due to drunk driving.
