The Land of Opportunity!

Back in the day everyone came to America because it is the land of opportunity.  Or atleast it was.  Can we really say that now-a-days?

OMGWTF?! UR Checking My Myspace?!

If a background check, drug test, credit check, references and previous employers weren't enough back ground checking for your new job candidate, check their Blog!  Employers have now been looking further into their applicants by looking them up of popular social networking sites such as Facebook and Myspace.  Even though these employers themselves more than likely do not have one, they're probably going to check yours.  Applicants have been getting screwed (yes SCREWED) out of jobs because of what they do in their personal life.  Yeah, so its broadcasted to anyone that has a internet connection, but really now, what you do in your personal life is up to YOU!  An employer shouldn't base their hiring decision over what you do when you are not on the clock, because it DOESN'T concern them.  Does being a wild partier mean you aren't best suited for the job? I mean, if you can go out and party all night, and still make it to work on time the next day what business is it of your boss to know what you did between when you left work and when you came back?  I suppose now they're going to expect us to turn in video logs of our home life to make sure we aren't doing anything the "boss" disapproves of.  Marinade this America, your right to a personal life has now been limited to what someone else deems acceptable!

Back to the Past!

Finally! I'm so happy to hear that somebody out there wants to restore the old buildings.  There has been a lot of building here and a lot of tearing down perfectly fine buildings to build new ones.  And this is what our mayor, " Mr. Bright", calls restoration.  We don't even have a civic center anymore because he decided that a new parking deck was more useful.  But I am glad to hear someone out there who can, will finally restore some of the old work that is merely rotting away.
